This specimen was lot 22334 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $10,575. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20 Pesos 1873 Cn-P, choice AU-UNC. Softly struck, with full luster and light hairlines. Little actual wear, a few contact marks, and mostly soft strike, as made. A very rare issue. The first example we have seen." Despite a steady production of twenty pesos for 1870-1905, Culiacan remains a scarce mint for this denomination.
