Mexico 1872Ho 8 reales rev DSLR.jpg
close up of the date

Shown is an 1872/1-HoPR 8 reales, one of a type struck 1825-97. Assayer PR is recorded at the Hermosillo mint for the years 1864-75. The mintage is not recorded but the date is rather scarce, being priced about three times the common dates of the 1890's. The Hermosillo mint opened in 1835 and closed in 1895.

The overdate (close up shown here), 1872/1, is one of the boldest in the series.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 377.9.
