This specimen was lot 21570 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,610. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1871/61Ca-MM, AU55 NGC, a nice lustrous piece with strong features on both sides. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." The Chihuahua mint struck eight escudos 1841-71; most of the dates are available in well circulated condition but nice specimens are scarce.
