Mexico 1871Oa 10 pesos rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen was one of a series issued 1870-85 by the Oaxaca mint. Other than some very rare 20 pesos gold pieces, no other decimal gold is known from this mint. Mintage figures are not a reliable indicator of rarity for this type due to the accidents of hoarding; many low mintage issues are readily available while other high mintage issues are very rare. This date, however, is common for the type.

Recorded mintage: 2,705 pieces.

Specification: 16.92 g, .875 fine gold, .476 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 413.8.
