The first specimen was lot 22301 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $160. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1870-GoFR. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. 7 over 6 variety." The Guanajuato mint issued this type 1825-97 and most dates are readily available, including the 1870Go-FR. Assayer YF is rare. The Guanajuato mint issued no eight reales in 1869, 1871 or 1872.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
