This specimen was lot 6366 in Ponterio sale 154 (Baltimore, June 2010), where it sold for $437. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1869-GaJM. Slightly weak strike, light toning. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Guadalajara mint opened in 1812 and closed in 1895. The SCWC lists no overdates or varieties and notes this date as somewhat scarce. Assayer JM is listed for 1867-69. The other assayer for 1869, IC, is listed as scarcer.
