Shown is an 1861-O FR four reales, one of a type struck at the Oaxaca mint 1861 only. Assayer FR is recorded on eight reales for 1861-64. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Guanajuato is tied with Zacatecas as the commonest mint. This particular date is rather rare but like all four reales, very rare in high grade. Several edge varieties are recorded for this year.
