This specimen was lot 2516 in Goldberg sale 103 (Los Angeles, February 2018), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. Escudo, 1861-Do CP. Hand on book. Some luster. Extremely Fine." The Durango mint struck this type 1832-38 and 1846-64; the SCWC prices this date only 60% higher than a common Mexico City issue.

Specification: 3.38 g, .875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW.
