This specimen was lot 33479 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 8 Reales 1859 Ca-JC AU55 NGC, Chihuahua mint. An incomplete strike with numerous die breaks and other die errors noted. Because of this, a very interesting and unique example." The Chihuahua mint struck eight reales 1831-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is still quite scarce. Assayer JC is listed for 1857-66.
