This specimen was lot 31576 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 4 Escudos 1858 Mo-FH AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint. A handsome overall tone with prooflike surfaces and strong luster." The Mexico mint was the second most prolific producer of four escudos but many of its issues are rare.

Specification: 13.54 g, .875 fine gold, .381 troy oz AGW.
