This type was struck at San Luis Potosi 1831-63, with assayer MC listed for 1849-59. This specimen was lot 8164 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $862.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Potosi. 1/2 Real, 1854-PiMC. NGC MS-64." The SCWC lists this date as common.
