This specimen was lot 72601 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Escudo, 1849-GoPF. NGC EXTREMELY FINE-45." This type was struck at the Guanajuato mint 1845-62; the SCWC prices this date only 75% higher than a common Mexico City issue but it is very scarce. Long[2] noted in his census only half as many one escudos from this mint as half escudos.
