This specimen was lot 11265 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $460. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1847-PiAM. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Rich iridescent toning." The Potosi mint struck four reales 1837-38, 1842-64, 1868-69. Many dates, including this one, are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 13.54 g, .903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.
