This specimen was lot 24681 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1845 Go-PM, MS63 NGC, fully lustrous and attractive with minimal contact marks. Very scarce grade for this early date." Guanajuato is the most available mint for this denomination but many individual dates are rare.

Specification: 27.07 g, .875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW.
