The type was struck at Guanajuato 1826-68, with assayer PJ listed for 1834-42. This specimen was lot 8154 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $149.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 1/2 Real, 1842-GoPJ. Scarce. EXTREMELY FINE." The SCWC notes another assayer, PM, and an 1842/1 overdate. This date is listed as common.

Specification: 1.69 g, .903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
