This specimen was lot 33489 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 8 Reales 1842 Ga-JG MS62 NGC, Guadalajara mint. A seldom encountered earlier date from the Guadalajara mint. Possessing a strong strike with an overall appearance that suggests a higher grade." Various overdates are noted (1842/1-JG/MG, 1842/1-JG/MC, 1842-JG, 1842-JG/MG). This date is fairly scarce but somewhat available.
