This specimen was lot 23397 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1840-ZsOM. PCGS MS-61 Secure Holder. Nearly fully struck with variegated tone on both sides." This eight reales is one of a series struck 1825-97 at the Zacatecas mint. This date is common. Assayer OM is recorded for 1831-55.

Specification: 27.07 g, .903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
