This specimen was lot 6298 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 8 Reales, 1840-MC. A stunning example. Sharply struck, beautifully toned. PCGS MS-64." For 1840, the SCWC lists an overdate, 1840/30. This date is somewhat scarce.
