This specimen was lot 2822 in Sincona sale 51 (Zurich, October 2018), where it sold for 1,375 CHF (about US$1,659 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Emanuel Pinto, 1741-1773. Zecchino o. J. Valetta. Selten. Vorzüglich. Feine Patina. (Order of Malta, Emanuel Pinto, 1741-73, undated zecchino, Valetta mint. Rare, Extremely fine, Nice toning.)"
This type was issued by grandmaster Pinto along with KM 237 (undated quadruple ducat), KM 238 (undated quadruple ducat), KM 236 (undated double ducat), KM 235 (undated double ducat) and KM 233 (undated single ducat), all rare. Maltese coins are known dated both before and after this issue, including this twelve tari (KM 224) from 1741; we don't know why no date appears on this type.
