This specimen was lot 920 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALAYA & BRITISH BORNEO: Elizabeth II, 1952-1963, 5 cents, 1961-KN, only 15 examples known, PCGS graded Specimen-65, RR, ex King's Norton Mint Collection." The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya. Coinage for the Straits Settlements ceased in 1935 and that of Malaya began in 1939 with a cent (KM 2), five cents, ten cents (KM 4) and twenty cents. This type was struck 1953-61 and is common.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000 (including 1961-H).

Specification: 1.41 g, copper-nickel, 16 mm diameter.
