Sincona sale 64, lot 3411
This specimen was lot 3411 in Sincona sale 64 (Zurich, June 2020), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$35,084 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Lucerne | Stadt und Kanton. 24 Münzgulden (Doppelduplone) 1796, Luzern. Sehr selten. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (city and canton of Luzern, twenty-four munzgulden or double duplone of 1796, Luzern mint. Very rare, Magnificent condition.)"
This type was struck 1794, 1796 and is rare. It was equal to the double duplone struck in other cantons such as Bern.
