Sincona sale 9, lot 5440
This specimen was lot 5440 in Sincona sale 9 (Zurich, October 2012), where it sold for 6500 CHF (about US$8,221 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Doppeldukat 1741. Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Lucerne, double ducat of 1741, very rare, good extremely fine.)"
The two ducats of Lucerne were struck only for special occasions and are all rare. One, four and five ducats also exist for this date.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 7 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen 6,81 g.
