This specimen was lot 2227 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$835 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Lothringen, Herzogtum, Antoine, 1508-1544 Teston 1524. Nancy. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast vorzüglich. Aussergewöhnlich gut ausgeprägt. (duchy of Lorraine, Anton I, 1508-44, teston of 1524, Nancy mint. Rare in this condition, About extremely fine, Unusually well struck.)"
Altho the duke doubtless spoke French, he did not consider himself a subject of the king of France but rather of the emperor. The province would not fall under French domination until after the Thirty Years War and was not annexed until the death of the last duke in 1766.
