This specimen was lot 31314 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $588.68. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lithuania. Sigismund II August Groschen 1567 XF45 NGC, Vilnius mint. Moderately toned with well-struck details and attractive surfaces. A very uncommon issue to be found in such fine quality." In the sixteenth century, Lithuania comprised the northeast half of the kingdom of Poland whose monarch ruled the two regions separately.
