This specimen was lot 24613 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Vittorio Emanuele III gold 10 Lire 1912-R, MS64 NGC, lightly toned and attractive with full mint bloom. Very rare type." This rare type was issued in 1910, 1912 and 1926-27 only and nearly all were melted.

Recorded mintage: 6,796.

Specification: 3.225 g, .900 fine gold, .0933 troy oz AGW, 18 mm diameter.
