This specimen was lot 4031 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $229.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. 2 Centesimi, 1907-R. NGC AU-53 BN. Dark copper toning with areas of red hues. Very scarce key date." Between 1861 and 1867, the government struck 153 million two centesimi pieces. It was not until 1895 that more were needed and two centesimi were struck for king Umberto 1895-1900. This is a scarce date of a type struck for king Victor Emanuel III 1903-08.

Recorded mintage: 230,000.

Specification: 2 g, copper, 20.2 mm diameter.
