This specimen was lot 10542 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Lire, 1884-R. NGC MS-63. Toned. From the Demarete Collection." This type was struck at Rome for the kingdom of Italy 1883-1900. It is not rare but this issue was dwarfed by the one year issue of 16,305,000 from Milan in 1887.

Recorded mintage: 1,995,000.

Specification: 5 g, .900 fine silver.
