This specimen was lot 31627 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $499.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "Vittorio Emanule II 10 Centesimi 1866-H, MS64 Brown NGC. An attractive Mint State coin with considerable luster. Scarce in this select grade!" This type was struck in prodigious quantities at the Naples, Strasbourg, Heaton (shown here), Turin and Milan mints 1862-63 and 1866-67 during the reign of Victorio Emanuele II of Italy. It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French ten centimes. The next issue of this denomination would be in 1893.

Recorded mintage: 40,000,000 plus 16,350,000 (Turin) plus 67,350,000 (Naples) plus 36,000,000 (Milan).

Specification: 10 g, bronze, 30 mm diameter.
