Sincona sale 13, lot 2098
Isny in 1806, when it was annexed to Wurttemberg

This specimen was lot 2098 in Sincona sale 13 (Zurich, October 2013), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$18,108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "DEUTSCHLAND, Isny, Stadt, Taler 1554. Äusserst selten. Sehr schön. Ex. Coll. Huntington, Nr. 1492." This free city in Swabia issued a few thalers in the mid-sixteenth century, all rare. We have filed Isny under Wurttemberg because the town was annexed to the kingdom on 1803 as part of Napoleon's mediatization.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: silver, this specimen 30.60 g.

Catalog reference: Nau 259. Lanz 19, Dav-9322A.
