Kunker sale 264, lot 3468
This specimen was lot 3468 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,067 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Dukat 1770, BL, Nagybánya. GOLD. RR Fast vorzüglich. (Hungary, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, ducat of 1770, Nagybanya mint. Rare, choice extremely fine.)"
This ducat was struck for the redoubtable Maria Theresia 1766-80 and shows the veiled bust used after the death of Francis I. Unlike the Empire, where Maria Theresia had to rule thru her husband Franz (and later her son Joseph), she was queen of Hungary outright.

Reported Mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 3.5 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen 3.46 g.
