Honan Province in the south east of China began coin production in 1647. A mint for struck coinage began operation in 1905.

The specimen shown was lot 21243 in Stack's Bowers April 2012 Hong Kong Auction (Sale #165), where it sold for $1076. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 10 Cash, ND (ca. 1920). NGC MS-65 BN. 湖南造中華民國當十銅元。."
