Hesse-Homburg 1859 thaler Dav-714
This specimen was lot 10317 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $282. The catalog description noted, "GERMANY. Hesse-Homburg. Taler, 1859. NGC AU-50." The landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg was split from Hesse-Darmstadt in 1622. It was mediatized by Napoleon but restored by the Vienna Congress but fell to Prussia in 1866 on the extinction of the dynasty. Its issues are sporadic and scarce.
