This specimen was lot 2095 in Sincona sale 13 (Zurich, October 2013), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,070 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Henneberg, Grafschaft, Wilhelm V. 1480-1559, Taler 1553. Schleusingen Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. Ex. Coll. Huntington, Nr. 6888." After the local dynasty fell extinct in 1580, this small county in Thuringia was divided among various dukes of Saxony, including that of Saxe-Meiningen, Saxe-Gotha and Saxe-Weimar.
