Sincona sale 18, lot 1343
This specimen was lot 1343 in Sincona sale 18 (Zurich, May 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1791. Clausthal. Selten. Vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Hannover, thaler of 1791, Clausthal mint, rare, extremely fine.)"
This type is rare despite being issued nearly continuously 1773-97. Elector George III is better known as George III, king of England, he so stirringly denounced in the American Declaration of Independence. This specimen shows the tabs of an NGC slab, not mentioned in the auction description.
