Künker sale 293, lot 688
This specimen was lot 688 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €300 (about US$404 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, HERZOGTUM Georg II. 1727-1760. Reichstaler 1729, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. R Sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Brunswick-Luneburg, George II, 1727-60, thaler of 1729, Clausthal mint, for the St. Andrew mine. Scarce, very fine.)"
"St. Andrew" thalers (Dav-2075) were minted extensively for George I but this is the first "St. Andrew" thaler of George II. It was issued 1727 and 1729 and is scarce. The more common St. Andrew thaler (Dav-2089) of George II has a simplified reverse.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.
