This specimen was lot 24722 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hamburg. Free City gold 2 Ducats 1806, AU53 NGC, struck in the name of Franz II. Nice original toning with traces of luster in the legends, very scarce type." This type was struck 1793-1806 in small numbers. Hamburg did not give up minting ducats until 1872, amid the coinage reform resulting from unification.

Recorded mintage: 1,201.

Specification: 6.98 g, .979 gold, .219 troy oz AGW.
