This specimen was lot 24718 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hamburg. Free City gold 2 Ducats 1787, AU58 NGC, struck in the name of Joseph II. Original toning with luster in the legends, slightly weak[ly] struck central details. Total mintage for this date: 320." This type was struck 1773-88 in small numbers. Hamburg did not give up minting ducats until 1872, amid the coinage reform resulting from unification.
