This specimen was lot 24710 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hamburg. Free City gold Ducat 1754-IHL, MS62 NGC, struck in the name of Franz I. An attractive mint state coin with lustrous surfaces and just a bit of light handling." This type was struck 1754-65 in small numbers. Hamburg did not give up minting ducats until 1872, amid the coinage reform resulting from unification. Double ducats (Fr-1124) also exist.

Recorded mintage: 5,047.

Specification: 3.49 g, .979 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW.
