Kunker sale 264, lot 3698
This specimen was lot 3698 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,134 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"STADT 2 Dukaten 1750, mit Titel von Franz I. Münzmeister Johann Hinrich Löwe. GOLD. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Nur 543 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Hamburg, double ducat of 1750, in the name of Francis I. Very rare date, only 543 struck, extremely fine.)"
This type is listed for 1746-53 but is rare. Single ducats exist (Fr-1125) and are slightly more available.
