Kunker sale 263, lot 328
This specimen was lot 328 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €280 (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Hamburg, STADT Reichstaler 1748, mit Titel von Franz I. auf die 100-Jahrfeier des Westfälischen Friedens. Münzmeister Johann Hinrich Löwe. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön + (Germany, city of Hamburg, thaler of 1748, in the name of Francis I, on the centennial of the Peace of Westphalia, mintmaster Johann Hinrich Löwe. Nice toning, choice very fine.)"
This is the first thaler struck by Hamburg since 1735 and the last issued during the eighteenth century.

Recorded mintage: 7,000.
