Kunker sale 263, lot 288
This specimen was lot 288 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabruck, June 2015), where it sold for €300 (about US$388 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Hamburg, STADT Reichstaler (32 Schilling) 1638, mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Matthias Freude. Sehr schön. (Germany, city of Hamburg, thaler of 1605, in the name of Ferdinand II, mintmaster Matthias Freude. Very fine.)"
This type is listed for 1637-46 along with the very similar Dav-5367 of 1643-53. It is a late issue of the three towers design thalers struck since the 1550's.
