Kunker sale 263, lot 242
This specimen was lot 242 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabruck, June 2015), where it sold for €650 (about US$840 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Hamburg, STADT Reichstaler (32 Schilling) 1613, mit Titel von Matthias. Münzmeister Matthias Moers. Von großer Seltenheit. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön. (Germany, city of Hamburg, thaler of 1613, in the name of Matthias, mintmaster Matthias Moers. Extremely rare, rim cracks, very fine.)"
Most of the "three towers" thalers of Hamburg struck in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries are common but this one of 1613 and 1616 is rare.
