Kunker sale 263, lot 189
This specimen was lot 189 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabruck, June 2015), where it sold for €600 (about US$775 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Hamburg, STADT Reichstaler (32 Schilling) 1582, mit Titel Rudolfs II. Münzmeister Jacob Schmidt. Gaed. - (zu 332, dort mit Münzmeisterzeichen von Andreas Metzner). R Hübsche Patina, winz. Prägeschwäche, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Hamburg, thaler of 1582, in the name of Rudolf II, mintmaster Jacob Schmidt. Scarce, nice patina, cleaned, very fine to extemely fine.)"
Davenport notes this type of 1581-84 as fairly scarce.
