Sincona sale 33, lot 2441
This specimen was lot 2441 in Sincona sale 33 (Zurich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Schwäbisch Hall, Stadt. Taler 1777. Titel Joseph II. Fast vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Germany, city of Hall in Swabia, convention thaler of 1777, in the name of Joseph II. About extremely fine, Attractive patina.)"
All the issues of the free city of Hall (also called Schwabisch Hall to distinguish it from other towns of the same name) are scarce. This is a product of the Nuremberg mint, along with the similar half thaler (KM 45.2) and ducat (Fr-1083). The town was annexed to Wurttemberg in 1803.
