Guyana 1990 5 cents
This specimen was lot 71019 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $90. The catalog description noted, "GUYANA. 5 Cents, 1990. PCGS SPECIMEN-66 Gold Shield. Brilliant and attractive with no trace of toning. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." Guyana began its numismatic life as the Dutch-held colony of Essequibo & Demerary, which later became British Guiana. Independence was gained in 1966. Guyana gravitates toward relations with English-speaking Caribbean island nations such as Trinidad and Tobago rather than with other South American nations. This type was struck 1967, 1972-92.
