Guhrau during the Weimar Republic

This set of fifty pfennig, one mark and two mark notgeld, was issued by the Silesian city of Guhrau at the beginning of World War One. Notgeld currency at this stage was strictly functional, used to alleviate a currency shortage caused by hoarding, but later issues (c.1921-23) were sold as souvenirs and rarely circulated.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: paper.
