Gubbio 1726 baiocco KM-111

This baiocco was struck 1726-30 at Gubbio during the reign of Benedict XIII (1724-30). A rare variety exists (KM 112) where the dog in the papal arms faces the wrong direction. The baiocco was one hundredth of a scudo. This is among the first baiocchi issued in the Papal States; the Rome mint would not begin production until 1740.
