This specimen was lot 24455 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $8,812.50. The catalog description noted, "Republic gold 4 Pesos 1868-R, MS61 NGC. Types as previous. Brilliant and in wonderful condition for this date, and also a worthy specimen for the type. Although not as elusive as the 1866, the 1868 date is also very rare, missing altogether from the Haberthuer collection while the Eliasberg specimen (ANR 4/2005, lot 3051 for $2,400) was only XF40. Ex. Louis Hudson (12/1978 for $750). From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins." This type is listed for 1866-69 and is part of a gold series which included one, two, four, five, eight, ten, sixteen and twenty pesos.
