Guatemala 1847-NG B 2 escudos
This specimen was lot 24446 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $5,581.25. The catalog description noted, "Central American Republic gold 2 Escudos 1847 NG-B, AU50 NGC. Rather dull surfaces, but only light wear and no flaws. Extremely rare date/assayer combination with only two confirmed examples. Unlisted in KM and all other references. This and the 1834-M are the two rarest pieces in this outstanding group. A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire one of the keys to this rare series. Ex. Mike Dunigan (10/1994 for $3,500). From The Isaac Rudman Collection of Guatemala Coins." This date is not listed in the SCWC. The type was struck in Guatemala 1825-47 and occasionally in Costa Rica 1828-50.
