This type was struck in Guatemala 1824-47 and in Costa Rica in 1831. The assayer is M and the legend reads "CREZCA/CRESCA." The type is listed in the SCWC under the Central American Republic. This federation was an attempt to unite all the former Spanish provinces of Central America into one country but collapsed amid recrimination and civil war.
